Introduction

Fun Fact: God gave me Part A of the lesson set below early in my writing for Him. Part B came much later. I forget when exactly though. The interesting thing is that God gave me discernment so I dubbed the cartoons on my disc together for easier organizing. Isn't God wonderful?

I use the Tom and Jerry episodes "The Missing Mouse", "Mouse Trouble", and a Looney Tunes short called "Sandy Claws". This shows deception that happens in a variety of ways that the Devil likes to use.

Scriptures used include Mathew 7: 15-23; Luke 17: 1-3a; II Corinthians 11: 13-15; I John 4: 1-6; and II Timothy 3: 10-17.

Today we will discuss False Teachers and their teachings in the Bible. Did you know that some people even in Bible times wanted to deceive other people?

This group of cartoon shorts will talk about some ways that you can be deceived and that you need to believe only those people and books that are actually correct in their teaching.

Do you see what happened to Tom here? Word of mouth deceived Tom. Tom thought he was doing the right thing, but didn't do any research on the subject. Because he trusted a government cover-up, he kicked the white mouse and in turn, blew up the whole town.

This shows deception in a book. This book makes Tom think that it was not going to fail him, however; he followed that book to his desperation and eventual death. He thought he was doing the right thing. The last scene shows Tom on a cloud with a harp and halo, but with eternal hic-ups. The meaning here is that Tom thought he would be going to Heaven, but instead ended up in a sort of a cartoon version of Hell. In these last two cartoons Tom followed something false and in both cases paid for it dearly.

False Teachers are very accountable for their actions too. Sylvester portrayed himself as a lifeguard and everyone believed him. In actuality, he was trying only to eat Tweety.

The Bible States in 2 Timothy 3: 10 - 17:

You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Overall, when you take a look at the scriptures (including this one), and our cartoons what do you see? Why?

Unlike what is portrayed in these cartoons, Jesus Christ is not a false teacher and his words are as good as gold. Jesus is the truest of true lifeguards. Accept no cheap imitations. Can you give a real life example of a cheap imitation; in other words how can the Devil deceive in real life?

The Bible is a very true book and won't fail anyone. The Bible is the Word of God. Test the Bible for yourselves and see that the whole truth and nothing but the truth is in it.A lot of things that you read and hear may have some truth in it but it won't be as good as what the Bible teaches. However, this doesn't make those false. For example, parents, teachers, and trustworthy friends will tell you the truth most of the time. The times they don't will be very much accidental. However, some parents keep bad secrets some friends who try to protect themselves etc. will lie sometimes. Some teachers may not teach well. How can you be able to gain more discernment and be ready for falsehoods that arise? As stated with our above scripture in II Timothy, the Bible is completely true. When someone tells you something that contradicts what the Bible teaches, DON'T YOU BELIEVE IT!!
