A Spiritual Lesson In Toon Language: Lesson 22f

Topic: The Chlorhydris Files VI - Chlorhydris Can't Steal Our Love Mirth, And Unity In Jesus Christ!!!

Series: Smurfs

Episode: Can't Smurf The Music

Lesson PDF link: 22f.pdf

Introduction

We are taking a look at joy and unity in the Body of Christ. This part is interesting because if we are looking at the order of lessons that God gave to me, we are using a cartoon from the very first lesson made. See Lesson 1 for this.

I used the Smurfs Episode "Can't Smurf The Music" to illustrate this lesson on joy. This lesson went much more in-depth than its counterpart with some new things added to it as well. This lesson shows that God is with us in our despair and is with us in our praise. Laconia helps to act this out (symbolizing God). Chlorhydris is definitely symbolizing Satan for this lesson. The Devil will try to steal our music. This will never work with genuine Christians who keep themselves prayed up. I believe if even genuine Christians lost this momentarily then God would design someone's heart to help in this matter (as the next lesson in this set shows). God gives joy in these trying times.

Scriptures Used Include: I John 7-8, 16; Psalms 27; Matthew 10: 17-31; I Corinthians 12; Matthew 18: 18-20

Remember Our Bible Point: Do you remember our Bible point for this Chlorhydris theme? I John 4: 7-8, 16.

If you have seen Lesson I, we used a cartoon from the Smurfs series called "Can't Smurf The Music". We are going to use this cartoon as well for the Chlorhydris theme that we are in, however there is going to be a much different lesson (even though the same theme) inside it than that one. Remember, that we are studying the character named Chlorhydris. When we are done with this show, we will have a discussion about its meaning this time.

Bible Study I: Before we get to our study, what are your thoughts on the character named Laconia?

Laconia symbolizes God. Read Psalms 27. Linking to the cartoon, what do you see about Laconia in the scriptures?

Laconia sheds some light on the subject of joy and praise. It's the same as music to God. Why is joy and praise the same as music to the Lord? How does Laconia become the Smurf's refuge as God is to us (remember she symbolizes God)?

Bible Study II: Laconia teaches us about the "no matter what" principle of joy (remember she symbolizes God). Read Matthew 10: 17-31. Linking to the cartoon, what does this mean to you? Do these scriptures remind you of Chlorhydris? Why? Chlorhydris could steal the visible joy and mirth, but she could not steal the Smurfs' spirit. The Smurfs did a good job keeping their inner joy.

Bible Study III: Laconia taught about the value of Christian unity (remember she symbolizes God). Read I Corinthians 12. Slouchy symbolizes a true Christian who is full of praise. If Slouchy symbolizes a Christian, how does Laconia show her symbol (God)?

Laconia encourages Slouchy to have praise and be steadfast no matter what. On top of that, Laconia was able to raise the Smurf army to praise (in sign language) right in front of Chlorhydris's window and her evil horn. What do you think of Slouchy's song when you look at the scriptures and this cartoon? Notice Slouchy is singing about the joy of unity inside the body of Smurfs.

Isn't this what we are supposed to do as Christians? In other words, are we not supposed to be unified in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be glad and joyous in that unity no matter what our job or gift?

Yes, as Slouchy's song says, I sing of a place that is happy and free, where we all live together in one family, where we work for each other and each does their part, where the love that's between us comes straight from the heart, and there's no place I'd rather be on the earth than the place that I sing, the home of the Smurfs. When we see the words "the home of the Smurfs", we see the word "family". In a working family we see that one purpose is in mind. This is to be peaceful, not fight and be of one mind when it comes to this end. As Christians, to be who we need to be we have to have like minds in Christ our Lord, and get along no matter what gift we have and what adversary we encounter. Laconia, like God was there in the face of the wicked Chlorhydris and was there in the presence of Slouchy's song at the end. Isn't this just like God?

God helps us when we are weak and rejoices with us when all is well. When Christians are unified this is what happens. The Bible states in Matthew 18: 18-20:

Mt 18: 18 "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

Mt 18:19 "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven."

Mt 18:20 "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

Slouchy's song is a song of praise. As Christians, we need to be praising God that we are happy and free and live together in one family. We need to have love between us that comes straight from the heart.

How did we see that God is Love in this cartoon? How can you show that God is Love and the unity in Jesus Christ that we are talking about so others can be blessed this week and beyond? One last question for this session, how can you make it a point to not be afraid of a Chlorhydris-type of a person who wants to make you depressed and steal your music?

Pray to keep your faith, unity, and love for and in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!
