Episodes: The Smurfs' Time Capsule, The Smurfstone Quest
Lesson PDF link: 31.pdf
This lesson shows a very good comparison and demonstration of a bundle of sticks and teamwork!! I use a clip from a Smurfs episode called "The Smurf's Time Capsule" and the Smurfs episode "The Smurfstone Quest."
Scriptures Used Include: Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12
Today, we are talking about unity. What is unity? Is this important?
We are going to see an interesting cartoon demonstration comparing a bundle of sticks and teamwork.
Cartoon Clip: The Smurfs: "The Smurfs' Time Capsule":
This will be a simple couple of questions hopefully. What do you see? Why is a bundle harder to break?
Cartoon Clip: The Smurfs: "The Smurfstone Quest":
What in this cartoon matches our clip about the sticks? If you can't figure this out, the Bible will show you. If you did figure it out, then you get an "A" for this lesson (you won't be officially graded). The Bible in this case, will help you in understanding and knowledge.
The Bible States:
Ecc 4:9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:
Ecc 4:10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Ecc 4:11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
Ecc 4:12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
What in the cartoon clip and show matches the Bible scriptures? What does this scripture passage and cartoon portion of the lesson mean to you?
The Bible talks a lot about why not to walk alone in our faith walk. As Christians, we need to offer this relationship to people: a great relationship with Christ Jesus the King and each other. How do you think that you can do this? There is an old saying that goes with this pretty tightly, which is 'United We Stand, Divided We Fall'. God made us to work together for His kingdom and bond with each other, so that we will be strong.
